What is the Trunk?
A child navigating one of the hardest moments of their life deserves more than leftovers.
What sets the Trunk apart isn't just what's inside, it's how it feels to be there. Every location is clean, organized, and thoughtfully maintained so families can choose items that feel special, useful and right for the children they love.
We hold our standards high because the children we serve deserve nothing less.

What is the Traveling Trunk?
The Traveling Trunk brings the same high-quality, dignity-first shopping experience directly to communities across Central Missouri on a scheduled route that puts resources closer to where families already are.
Can't make it to one of our locations? We may be coming to your area soon!
Getting what you need shouldn't depend on how far you can drive. The Traveling Trunk helps make sure families can access support closer to home.
Can my community host the Traveling Trunk?
We're always looking for trusted community partners — churches, schools, food pantries, and community centers — who want to bring this resource to the families they serve.
If you know a location that would be a good fit, email travelingtrunk@cmfcaa.com.
What clothing can I donate?
Because we want every family to have a dignified shopping experience, we ask donors to follow these guidelines.
Our community is extraordinarily generous, and we are grateful for every family, business, and organization that gives back to keep the Trunk stocked. Many of the families we serve are donors themselves, returning what was once given to them so another child can benefit. That cycle of generosity is one of the most beautiful parts of this work.
Please donate items that are:
- Clean, in good condition, and free of stains, tears, or significant wear
- Something you would feel proud to give a child you love
- Sized for children and youth, infant through young adult
Items that help us most:
Boys clothing
Boys clothing, especially youth sizes, is always our greatest need. If you're unsure what to give, this is where your donation makes the biggest difference.
Seasonal clothing
In-season clothing is always most useful. If you're donating out-of-season items, please label them clearly so we can store and deploy them at the right time.
New items
New items are always welcome. If you're purchasing something to donate, practical basics like underwear, socks, and everyday clothing go fast and go far.
What should I not donate?
Please avoid donating items that are stained, torn, or heavily worn.
- Items that are stained, torn, or heavily worn
- Garage sale surplus or items you wouldn't choose specifically for a child in a hard moment
- Large volumes of unsorted, mixed-condition items without notice
We are faithful stewards of every donation we receive. Items that don't meet our standards are re-donated to partner organizations when possible. On rare occasions, items that cannot be used or redistributed are discarded. Maintaining the quality of this experience for families is a responsibility we take seriously.
Where do I drop off donations?
Donations can be dropped off at any of our three Trunk locations from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
If you have a large donation or want to coordinate a clothing drive, please email TravelingTrunk@cmfcaa.com before dropping off. We'd love to work with you to make your generosity go as far as possible.
