Is respite just childcare?
At CMFCAA, respite is about relief, belonging, and normalcy for both caregivers and children.
Respite is often misunderstood as "just childcare."
What is the Respite Exchange?
The Respite Exchange Program matches foster, adoptive, and kinship families with licensed respite providers who can meet the specific needs of the children in their care.
Are respite providers licensed?
Yes. All CMFCAA respite providers are licensed by the state and have completed full background screenings.
Does it cover emergency respite?
Yes. This program supports both traditional and emergency respite needs.
CMFCAA works to make matches quickly and efficiently so families can get the relief they need with less stress.
Does CMFCAA handle state reimbursement?
No. While traditional respite is eligible for state reimbursement, CMFCAA does not provide financial compensation or report respite units for state reimbursement.
Families and providers are responsible for managing that communication directly with the state.
How do I request respite?
Families can request respite care online through the Respite Exchange request form.
